I like to give gifts as much, or likely more, than receiving them. I enjoy seeing the surprise look, “oh, for me? You shouldn’t have.” Well, maybe I shouldn’t have, but I hope you are happy I did. I’ve been told I have a good eye for gifts. Many tell me I seem to find just the right thing, something they wouldn’t have thought of but love completely. Some ask me to buy gifts for them to give because they tell me I find the most unusual items.
Often I find gifts for people when I’m searching for something completely different. Like if I’m looking for a dress to wear to a wedding, I might find the perfect gift for a friend on my way into or out of the dress department. If I have the extra funds at the time, I buy it, with that person in mind and I keep it in a gift closet.
I will admit, while I do enjoy receiving gift cards, I don’t often make them my first choice in a gift I enjoy giving. Mostly because I like finding something I feel is personal just for the recipient. Maybe less practical, unexpected, something they will like but wouldn’t think to spend the money on for themselves.
However, as I’ve moved away from much of my family and friends, I find gift cards make the most sense. I dislike buying a gift and then spending as much or more on it to ship it to someone. This is where a gift card comes in handy.
Recently, I found a gift card that caught my eye. Because for some gifts (and food) the delight I receive in giving it or serving it is as much about the presentation as it is about the actual gift.
Enter Snomee gift cards. They arrive in a cute little box with an attached ribbon closure. You wonder what might be inside. The gift card holder is also an adorable snow globe. I’m talking super cute designs like you’ve not seen before. So in a sense, you are giving a two-fer gift. A gift within a gift. Much better than a boring gift card holder, don’t you think? Right now the designs center on the winter holidays with Santa, reindeer, penguin and a polar bear. Get a jump on your holiday shopping. Something tells me they might expand to include cute little ‘any time,’ designs. They even ask you for your ideas on their site.
I take pleasure in knowing the gift card holder will help put a smile on the gift recipient’s face, over and over. Each time they give it a shake. Hopefully, they’ll think of me every time they pick up the Snomee.
I’ve always appreciated and reward ‘clever,’ embrace it, enjoy it. I think the concept behind Snomee is clever. I am happy the company has taken away some of the ‘boring’ of giving a gift card. For me, that is helping me share joy and for that I like it very much.
My friend Katja inspires many with her Live a Little blog prompt with Skimbaco. Please take a moment and see what others are writing about today. Ways they share joy. Let me hear from you. How have you shared joy recently? I can always use new ideas.
*I received the Snomee gift and gift card as compensation for this post. I assure you, the ideas and opinions in this post are my own. If I wasn’t impressed, I’d tell you. I will be giving these as gifts in the future.

I LOVE this idea – they are SO cute!!
Hillary
Yay! Thanks for sharing, Hillary! I see gift card giving in our future.
I always hesitate to give gift cards for the same reason – but they are a great gift. These are so cute- makes it a win-win!
I’m happy you agree! Hope I’ve helped you find a gift within a gift, a bonus!
These are really cute! I personally hate giving gift card holders because it makes me feel like I am just handing someone cash. This would be such a great replacement for them!
Jenn, if you’ve gone to their site, you can see close up views of the globes they have designed so far. I think they ‘sing HAPPY.’
These are so cute! Sometimes the best gift for someone is a gift card and this would help make it a little extra special.
Teresa, I’m happy I may have helped you find a new favorite gift to give! So good to hear from you!
Giving gifts is such a beautiful way to live life to the fullest
I have love-hate-relationship with gift cards. I used to hate them, because they are so impersonal, and I always think the gift-giver is somewhat lazy for not taking the time to actually buy me something. But after years of receiving bad gifts or/AND gift cards, I now love to get gift cards
I always buy something special to myself with them, and think of the person who gave me the gift, I think the snowglobe makes Snomees even better – you’ll have something to remember directly from the gift giver too.
My thoughts exactly about gift cards, Katja! I also treat myself to something special, as opposed to practical when I receive one from somebody. Honestly, I think the Snomee will be my ‘go-to’ for any holiday gift I have to ship and I think having a few in a my gift closet will be great for hostess gifts too! Thanks for starting the Live a Little blog hop, I always gain inspiration when reading other posts! xox
That’s so cute! The idea is adorable, and you’re right it’s a two-fer gift.
We love our two-fers!
I love this idea! Who doesn’t love snowglobes? (Aside from the TSA, of course…)
Ha, Naomi! I didn’t think of the TSA. Dang it, are there more than two ounces of liquid in a snowglobe? Hmm, I’ll have to check. Thanks for stopping by!
